Infoline and Legal Yarn - Information Officers
The Legal Aid WA Infoline and Legal Aid WA Legal Yarn service for First Nations people, provide legal information and referrals to people from locations across the state. They are one of our core points-of-contact for clients and the public to:
- get information about the law
- find out about the services we provide
- speak to a lawyer or get a lawyer to run their case, and
- find out about other agencies or groups that may be able to help them.
We are looking for people with good communication and interpersonal skills to work as Information Officers in our Infoline and Legal Yarn services, to respond to challenging clients and people in difficult circumstances, in a respectful and effective manner.
Our Information Officers come from a variety of legal and non-legal backgrounds. We are always keen to work with people with previous experience in customer service roles or working in call-centres.
Working on Legal Yarn and Infoline
Our lnfoline and Legal Yarn services are open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on business days. Calls from all over the state are answered by Information Officers, who work in a call centre at our head office in Perth.
Information Officers work 4 hour shifts and are rostered on for a minimum of 4 shifts each week. The number of shifts and days worked can be negotiated to suit each person’s situation.
We support and train new recruits by providing an initial training program, as well as offering ongoing help and guidance. There is always a supervising lawyer attached to the Infoline section to mentor and assist our Information Officers.
Information Officers are employed under contracts with Chandler Macleod and are not classed as Legal Aid WA employees. Pay levels are equivalent to GOSAC Level 2.
