Family law property kits

We create self-help kits and guides to help people solve their legal problem. These kits are to help you solve your family law property issues.

Our resources are not a replacement for legal advice. If possible, we always recommend that you get legal advice about your situation before appearing or lodging any forms in court.

If you have questions about these resources, or to ask if a paper copy could be sent to you, call the Infoline or contact your nearest Legal Aid WA office.

Property Starter Kit

The Property Starter Kit is for people who have separated and need to make arrangements about their property. Use this Kit to guide you through the property settlement process, from finding out what property there is to divide, to reaching agreement on how to divide that property, and what to do if you don’t have agreement

Property Injunctions Kit

The Property Injunctions Kit is for people who have separated and need urgent help to stop their ex-partner selling or transferring an asset without their consent. A person can apply for an injunction to stop their ex-partner from doing something that would negatively affect the person’s right to a property settlement. The court has the power to grant injunctions that stop a person:

  • selling or transferring ownership of a property,
  • spending money from the sale of property,
  • re-mortgaging or refinancing against a property,
  • moving an asset out of Australia, and more.
