Welcome to Law Week 2023

Welcome to Law Week 2023 - 15-19 May - Justice, Inclusion, Community

As always, Law Week 2023 is a highlight on the Legal Aid WA calendar. Running from 15 -19 May, this nationwide initiative promotes community awareness and understanding of the law, legal system and legal profession.

With the courts, various legal agencies and WA Police Force all involved, there are a wide range of events and programs on offer, aimed at both professionals and community members.

We are starting our week off with an online event for parents and educators that explores some of the key legal issues affecting young people in WA. Based on our popular R U Legal program, this info session will be delivered by an experienced criminal lawyer covering everything from cyber-bullying to consent.

Later in the week, we have two sessions centring around family law. The first is for legal professionals and other professionals working in the family law system and will cover the services on offer at Legal Aid WA, referral pathways, and who qualifies for legal assistance.

The second is a community engagement event and aims to provide relevant and accessible information to individuals who may be experiencing challenges resulting from separation or divorce. These sessions will be delivered by a family law specialist and are available both online and in person.

If you’d like information on any of our events, feel free to email us at cle@legalaid.wa.gov.au.
