This May, Legal Aid WA’s Director Helen De Brito will be donning her sneakers, stepping up and stepping out as an ambassador for the 10th Law Access Walk for Justice event.
The annual charity walk raises money for Western Australians in need of pro bono legal aid, with judges, magistrates, lawyers, paralegals, and allied professionals working in the legal sector all getting behind the event.
Last year’s Walk for Justice broke records for the most event participants (948) and the highest funds raised, with $183,000 going towards those in legal need. This year those records stand to be broken again.
Legal Aid WA has been represented in the Walk for Justice for many years, and this year brings a particular sense of excitement with Helen playing a key role as ambassador.
“Working at Legal Aid WA means making a real difference to the lives of people in our community. Usually that involves working in the office or at court, but on this occasion we will be making a difference by stepping out of the office, joining the WA legal sector and together, raising awareness of the work done by Law Access while raising funds to help them to provide this vital legal assistance,” Helen said.
“Legal Aid WA's vision is to create equitable access to justice to support a fair and safe community. I’m proud to play a part in the Walk for Justice in 2025 and help to improve access to justice for Western Australians experiencing disadvantage.”
