Legal Aid WA is now accepting expressions of interest from individuals to join the Review Committee for the 2025/2026 financial year.
We are looking to fill voluntary positions in two categories – community members (non-lawyers) with an interest in justice, and lawyers with family law expertise.
The Review Committee plays a vital role, reviewing:
- Applications for grants of legal aid that have been refused,
- Conditions/variations of grants of aid,
- Client contributions, and
- Lawyers’ accounts that have been reduced or disallowed.
Review Committee meetings take place on select Tuesdays at 1pm. On average, a committee member will be required to attend four meetings over the financial year, or approximately once a quarter. The meetings take place at Legal Aid WA’s Perth head office, however committee members can join the meeting by audio link.
If selected for a voluntary role, you will be provided with a manual outlining the role and powers of the Review Committee, as well as any relevant Legal Aid WA policies and procedures.
If you would like to join the Review Committee and make a meaningful contribution to the work of Legal Aid WA, please email a written application enclosing your resume detailing your qualifications and experience, to the Review Committee Secretary ReviewCommitteeSecretary@legalaid.wa.gov.au
Applications close 5.00pm Friday 6 June 2025.
