Legal Aid WA is proud to announce that for our next Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we have been invited by Reconciliation Australia to progress to a Stretch RAP. This is a significant milestone in our journey toward reconciliation with First Nations people and represents a deepening of our organisational commitment to long-term, meaningful action.
A Stretch RAP is a commitment undertaken by organisations that are leaders in the reconciliation space, a title we are proud to hold.
Our ongoing commitment to reconciliation can be seen through the progress of our RAPs since 2009, with the Stretch RAP – our seventh RAP - building on the achievements of those before. A summary of highlights from our previous Innovate 2023-25 RAP can be found below.
At Legal Aid WA we understand that reconciliation is not a destination. It is a commitment to walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in everything we do, every day.
The Stretch RAP will be a collaborative effort, and any staff or stakeholder who would like to be involved in consultation and implementation activities are encouraged to get in touch with Legal Aid WA’s First Nations Services Coordinator via email on firstnationsservices@legalaid.wa.gov.au. We are committed to listening deeply and ensuring this RAP reflects the voices and needs of First Nations people.
