We delivered 7 per cent more duty lawyer services across the state than in the previous year and approved 14,684 new grants of aid, an increase of 12 per cent.

Some key achievements included in the 2025-2026 Annual Report:

Client Outcomes
The DARDY Project Evaluation Report was published during this period, providing evidence of the Project’s outcomes for clients and its contribution to the legal and other systems addressing the needs of young people in the criminal justice system.

Stakeholders and Partners
Private Practitioners at varying stages of their career continue to benefit from participating in our Supervisor Status Scheme, assisting approved panel members to create capacity while affording professional development opportunities to junior panel members.

People and Culture
A Professional Practice Supervisor (Social Work) was appointed to provide the growing number of social support staff across Legal Aid WA with an appropriate level of professional supervisory support.

Legal System Impact
We contributed to the Law Reform Commission of Western Australia’s review of access to justice by people with disability. We also made submissions to parliamentary inquiries relating to youth justice and incarceration; public order; guardianship and administration; and racism, vilification and hatred towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
