We congratulate Julie Jackson, Director of our Early Intervention Services Division, on her reappointment to Family Law Council by the Commonwealth Attorney-General. Julie was first appointed to Family Law Council in 2021. This reappointment is an acknowledgement of Julie’s contribution to law reform and policy development in family law, child protection and family violence.
Achieving outcomes in the best interests of children has been a primary focus of Julie’s work. She served as Director of Legal Aid WA’s Family Law Division for a decade, is an Independent Children's Lawyer and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, and has been an integral member of sector working groups in family law, child protection and family violence. In this context she has a special interest in improving court processes, information sharing and interagency collaboration to support victim survivors of family violence, including children.
As a member of the Family Law Council, Julie is part of an expert 11-person team that advises and makes recommendations to the Commonwealth Attorney-General about the workings of the Family Law Act and other legislation relating to family law, legal aid in relation to family law, and other complex issues relating to family law.
