Juvenile offender reporting applications
From 31 December 2025, if you are found guilty of a reportable offence that you committed as a child, you will no longer automatically become a reportable offender. Instead, the Children’s Court of Western Australia will decide whether you should be one.
If you were sentenced and made a reportable offender before 31 December 2025, you can apply to the Children’s Court for an ‘exemption order’ to review your status as a reportable offender. If the Children’s Court makes an exemption order, it means you will be removed from the register and will no longer be a reportable offender.
If you would like advice about your situation or help with applying for an exemption order, please call our Infoline on 1300 650 579 or Legal Yarn on 1800 319 803.
There is more information about these changes on the Legal Aid WA Webpage: Being a reportable offender as a child. There is also information in this Children’s Court of Western Australia Information Note: Offender applications under the Community Protection (Offender Reporting) Act 2004.
