How we help
You can get help from Legal Aid WA in different ways:
Information | Call our Infoline telephone service or our Legal Yarn telephone service (for First Nations callers) for legal information and referrals. |
Advice | Make an appointment for legal advice and assistance. |
Representation | Speak to one of our duty lawyers at court for help on the day of your court case. In some situations you might get a lawyer to run your case on an ongoing basis. |
Our website also has information on many legal topics and legal education resources. All our information and legal resources are free to download and use.

What if I need an interpreter?
If English is not your best language, we book interpreters so you can get help in your language. If you need help to speak or listen, we can use Auslan interpreters and relay services.
Who can we help?
Legal Aid WA tries to help as many people as we can in Perth and across regional Western Australia.
How must we can help will depend on your personal circumstances, your legal problem, and our resources. Some of our services prioritise helping disadvantaged and vulnerable people.
We try to help as many people as possible, but do not give advice on every legal issue.
What if I am in prison?
We have a number of services to help people who are in prison.
What if Legal Aid WA cannot help me?
If we can't help you, we will try to refer to you to a service that can.
