Get help with child protection

Legal Aid WA can help you with your protection and care case at the Children’s Court, pre-birth signs of safety meetings, or with your case involving child abuse at the Family Court of WA.

  • Call our Infoline from Monday to Friday between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm for information about the law and how we can help you.  
  • For protection and care cases and pre-birth signs of safety meetings, you can get help from our duty lawyer service Children’s Court Protection Services on (08) 9218 0160 from Monday to Friday between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm.
  • For pre-birth signs of safety meetings, you can also download the fact sheet Pre-birth signs of safety meetings - get a free lawyer. It has details of legal services that can help you for free at these meetings.

If you need an interpreter, please let us know. If we can’t help you, we will refer you to someone who can.

You may also get help from Legal Aid WA by:

  • Asking for advice or representation at court from the duty lawyers at:
  • Applying for a grant of aid. In some cases, we may be able to provide you with a lawyer to help you run your protection and care case or assist at pre-birth signs of safety meetings. If you are a grandparent who has been joined as a party to the case, sometimes you may also be able to get a lawyer.
