Law Society of Western Australia

Law Society of Western Australia

What is the Law Society?

The Law Society of Western Australia is the professional association for Western Australian barristers and lawyers.

How does the Law Society help members of the public?

The Law Society manages a legal scheme called Law Access. Law Access assists people in the community who cannot pay for a lawyer and who are in genuine need of legal assistance, to get in touch with lawyers in private firms that provide pro bono legal assistance. Pro bono legal assistance means free or reduced fee legal advice or representation.

If you apply for legal assistance through Law Access, you will need to show you are unable to:

  • pay for a lawyer, and
  • get legal help through Legal Aid WA or any other agency.

For more information about Law Access and other services provided by the Law Society of Western Australia, please visit the website or contact the Law Society of Western Australia on (08) 9324 8600.
