Migrants, Other Languages and Cultural Backgrounds

Legal Aid WA's services can be provided through the use of trained and confidential interpreters. Simply telephone Legal Aid WA Information Line on 1300 650 579 and ask for an appointment to be made with an interpreter.

Multicultural Online WA - includes links to a range of Western Australian ethnic and cultural community organisations

Multicultural Services Centre of WA (Inc) - is a non-profit community organisation established to provide services for migrants from ALL cultures, ph: 9328 2699

Multicultural Women's Advisory Service - helps women and children from non-English speaking backgrounds. They can put you in touch with women's refuges, welfare and legal services. Ph: 9227 8122

Metropolitan Migrant Resource Centre Inc - offers assistance to migrants and refugees, ph: 9345 5755

Fremantle Multicultural Centre - offers assistance to migrants and refugees, ph: 9328 2699

Ethnic Communities Council of WA - coalition of different cultural and ethnic community groups, ph: 9227 5322

Ethnic Disability Advocacy Centre - their aim is to promote and safeguard the rights of ethnic people with disabilities and their cares, ph: 9388 7455 or Freecall: 1800 659 921

Office of Multicultural Interests - State government department

Department of Immigration and Citizenship - Commonwealth government department with information on migrating to Australia and immigration status.

West Australian Police Service - ensure that people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are not disadvantaged in accessing police services or discriminated in any way.
